Turmeric Ginger Lemonade

Simple syrup is made by boiling water, sugar and turmeric then cooling. Combined with lemon juice, freshly grated ginger, cold water and additional turmeric. Served over ice.

What You’ll Need:

  • Small saucepan 
  • 1 large jug
  • Whisk


  • 4 1/2 cups (1.125 L) cold water, divided
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) sugar
  • 2 tbsp (45 mL) ground turmeric, divided
  • 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) fresh ginger, grated
  • Ice, for serving

Prep Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, bring 1/2 cup (125 mL) water, sugar and 1 tbsp turmeric to a boil. Using a whisk, stir until sugar has dissolved; cool completely.
  2. Pour mixture into a large jug and whisk with lemon juice, ginger and remaining each turmeric and water. Let sit for at least 15 minutes in the fridge so flavours can marry. 
  3. Pour over glasses filled with ice to serve.

Tip: For an adult beverage, spike this lemonade with your favourite vodka or rum.
